We have openings in our wonderful afternoon class which meets Monday and Wednesday
1:15 to 4:15. This is a regular preschool class for ages 3, 4 and 5 with two teachers and a developmentally appropriate curriculum. It’s perfect for a child who has outgrown naps and isn’t in school in the morning. If you have a baby who takes an afternoon nap, you might even get one too.

Accreditation from the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs assures a curriculum which includes:
Creative experiences in art, music, rhythm and language
Carpentry, waterplay and outside activities
Science and nature exploration
Manipulative and perceptual experiences
Dramatic play and cooking
The UMCC offers morning preschool classes from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and an afternoon class from 1:15 to 4:15. Children may come M - F, MWF or TTh. Some special schedules may be arranged. There are choices for early morning, lunch, napping, extended or all day care. The child who attends the afternoon class may start at 12:00 with lunch, and may continue to 5:30. The Toddler classes are on MW or TTh from 9:00 am to noon. The UMCC is open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
Preschool Program - Your child must turn 3 years old by December 2 to be enrolled in the 3 year old class or 4 years old by December 2 to be enrolled in the 4 year old class. All children must be potty trained.
Toddler Program - Your child must turn 2 years old by September 1 to be enrolled in the fall toddler program, and by June 1 to be enrolled in the summer program. Your child does not have to be potty trained.
Afternoon Preschool: - Our afternoon class from 1:15 to 4:15 is comparable to the morning preschool class with mixed age classes. We currently have openings in the afternoon.
All children at the UMCC are required to have a pre-entrance physical examination. Current records of immunizations must be completed by the start of school. All children are required to have current emergency information and medical release forms on file at the UMCC.
We employ a qualified and experienced staff for teaching and child care. Their training makes possible the loving, sensitive, nurturing and enthusiastic atmosphere necessary for a quality program. Our standards are those of excellence. All staff are members of the National Association of the Education of Young Children. Our preschool class size is limited to 15 students with two teachers per class to provide the best environment for learning. Our toddler class size is limited to 8 students with two teachers.
The UMCC provides a variety of opportunities in which parents may participate.
Four special parent groups include:
The Parent Discussion Group which meets twice a month, for a topic or book discussion. Child care is provided for a fee.
Friends of the UMCC which is a parent group to organize activities in support of the school. This group sponsors the rummage sale, the BBQ/carnival/auction, the scholarship golf tournament, participation in the holiday parade, and charity projects.
A Daddy and Me Class which meets on Saturday mornings once a month during January, February, and March.
A Mommy and Me Class which meets on Saturday mornings once a month during September, October and November.
We encourage parents to bring a nutritious snack for the class every 4 to 6 weeks. (Sign up in the office.) Parents may join the class at snack time.
Twice a year we have Saturday workdays. Parent help is terrific. (Your child may “work” beside you.)
The UMCC Committee, our governing board, includes parent representatives. We appreciate parent input, suggestions, and assistance at any time. Please call with any questions.
For the school year, tuition will be paid in nine equal amounts on the first of each month from September to May. A non-refundable registration fee of $100.00 will be required for each child per school year. Our summer registration fee is $50.00. The tuition covers the child’s place in school. Therefore, absences cannot be made up or allowed for in the tuition. Parents must sign a contract each year for the full school year unless special arrangements have been made.
The school calendar will generally follow that of the San Luis Coastal Unified School District. We also offer an 8 week summer school session. We are closed two weeks before the start of school in the fall. Prior to the beginning of the school year, newly enrolled children will receive a home visit from one of the child’s teachers to help the child anticipate the new experience. You and your child are always welcome to visit the school. Please call to arrange a time.
